WooCommerce Booking Plugin Comparison

Choosing a WooCommerce booking plugin comes down to one early decision: do you want reservations to be WooCommerce products, or do you want a separate booking system that hands WooCommerce the payment at the end? That choice decides how your coupons, taxes, reports and order emails behave forever after, so it is worth settling before you compare feature lists. The four alternatives most stores weigh up are WooCommerce Bookings (the official extension), the Booking & Appointment Plugin for WooCommerce by Tyche Softwares, Amelia, and Bookly.

WooCommerce Booking and Reservation by Webkul takes the first route. A bookable product is a normal WooCommerce product with a Bookable flag, so it flows through the ordinary cart, checkout, order and reporting pipeline. Everything else — thirteen booking types, fourteen kinds of availability rule, seasonal pricing and deposits, rooms, staff and equipment and the customer's own booking list — sits behind a single tabbed screen in your admin.

How this comparison was prepared

Every competitor row was compiled from that vendor's own public website and documentation as of September 2026. "Not documented" means the vendor does not document the capability on the pages we could read — it does not prove the feature is absent. Tyche Softwares' website blocks automated access, so its rows were compiled from its public documentation index and published product pages rather than a direct read; treat that column as the most provisional of the four. Feature sets and prices change often, so verify anything decisive with the vendor before you purchase. Every source is listed in the Sources table at the end of this page.

Key advantages

Reservations stay ordinary WooCommerce orders. A bookable product is a WooCommerce product with a Bookable flag, so coupons, tax rules, payment gateways, order statuses and WooCommerce Analytics all behave exactly as they do for the rest of your catalogue. There is no second order book to reconcile, which is the usual cost of running a standalone booking system alongside a WooCommerce store. See the booking experience for what the customer actually sees.

One purchase covers the scenarios other plugins charge extra for. Deposits and instalments, add-on services and fees, resources, person types, the search builder and calendar sync are all part of the plugin. On the official extension, deposits need WooCommerce Deposits, add-on services need Product Add-Ons, and publishing an availability calendar needs the Bookings Availability add-on, each a separate purchase on its own renewal.

The rule engines are unusually granular. Fourteen availability rule types carry an explicit priority, so "open weekdays only, but closed for these three holidays, and never more than three bookings in one slot" is three stacked rules rather than a compromise. Fifteen pricing rule types cover seasonal multipliers, weekday and specific-date prices, date-range pricing, early-bird, last-minute and group discounts, deposits and instalments.

Thirteen booking types instead of one shape of booking. The same product type covers a hotel night, a 30-minute appointment, a multi-day equipment rental, a fixed event seat and a package. Booking types explains which one to pick, and the Setup Wizard will pre-configure a Hotel, Appointment, Rental, Event/Tour or Equipment Rental product for you in one step.

Customers can service their own bookings. My Bookings gives every customer their reservations in their WooCommerce account, with an ICS download and a Google Calendar link, plus — when you enable them — cancellation and reschedule requests that arrive in your booking queue for approval.

One-time licence. The plugin is a 49 USD one-time purchase with three months of support included and optional extensions to six months or a year. The official extension and both standalone systems are subscription or tier based, so the cost comparison changes shape in year two.

Where competing solutions fall short

These are limitations to weigh, not criticisms — each of these products is capable, and each is a reasonable choice for a different store.

  • WooCommerce Bookings is the official extension and integrates cleanly, but several things most booking businesses treat as core are separate purchases. Its own product page says deposits require "the separate WooCommerce Deposits extension", add-on services require "Product Add-Ons", and availability display blocks come "with the WooCommerce Bookings Availability add-on (sold separately)". Customer-side rescheduling is not documented, and licensing is an annual subscription.

  • Booking & Appointment Plugin for WooCommerce (Tyche Softwares) is strong on making existing product types bookable and documents two-way Google Calendar sync, partial payments and person-based bookings. Seasonal pricing is published as a separately sold add-on rather than part of the base plugin. Its site blocks automated access, so treat every row in its column as provisional and confirm directly with the vendor.

  • Amelia is a standalone booking system, and its WooCommerce integration is a payment path rather than a product model. That is a genuinely different job: appointments live in Amelia's own tables rather than as WooCommerce orders, so WooCommerce coupons, order emails and analytics do not apply to them in the way they do to the rest of your catalogue. Packages and resources sit on higher tiers.

  • Bookly is likewise a standalone system, with WooCommerce available through an add-on for payment. Its free tier is capped at five services and one staff member, and a long list of capabilities that other plugins bundle — deposits, group bookings, discounts, multi-location, recurring appointments, waiting lists and advanced custom fields — are documented as paid add-ons on top of the licence.

  • Migration and sync tools are sometimes suggested as alternatives. They are not: they move or mirror data between systems and do not sell a time slot to a customer.

Which stores should choose this plugin

  • Hotels, B&Bs and holiday lets that need per-night pricing, minimum and maximum stays, room-level resources and an iCal feed shared with Airbnb, Booking.com, Vrbo or HomeAway.
  • Clinics, salons and consultants selling appointment slots with staff as resources, buffers between bookings and a customer-facing reschedule request flow.
  • Rental businesses — equipment, vehicles, kayaks, cameras — that price by day or by fixed block and need per-unit capacity.
  • Tour operators and event organisers who price per person type, cap group size and sell add-on services.
  • Any WooCommerce store that wants reservations to stay inside the WooCommerce order pipeline rather than in a parallel system, and prefers a one-time licence to an annual subscription.
