Frequently Asked Questions & Notes
Answers to common questions regarding setup, operations, discount calculations, and compatibility for WooCommerce POS Happy Hours Discount.
General & Configuration Questions
What happens when multiple Happy Hour rules are active at the same time?
The plugin resolves overlapping rules using an automated hierarchy:
- Product Rule: Takes first priority for matching items.
- Category Rule: Applies to items whose categories are included and do not have an individual product rule.
- Cart Total Rule: Applies across the order total only when no item-level Happy Hour product or category discount is active in the cart.
Can online website shoppers receive these Happy Hour discounts?
No. WooCommerce POS Happy Hours Discount is engineered specifically for physical point-of-sale checkout counters and operates through the Webkul WooCommerce Point of Sale interface. Online eCommerce store purchases are unaffected.
Does the plugin support WooCommerce High-Performance Order Storage (HPOS)?
Yes. The extension is declared fully compatible with WooCommerce HPOS. Orders processed through the POS terminal store promotional metadata directly in HPOS order tables.
How does Multisite Network Activation work?
Version 1.1.0 introduced complete WordPress multisite support. When a network administrator clicks Network Activate under Network Admin Plugins, the installer automatically registers tables on all existing subsites. Any new subsites provisioned later will also automatically receive the necessary schema upon initialization.
Cashier Terminal & Checkout Questions
Why does the terminal block changing the customer when items are in the cart?
When Happy Hours are active, discounts may be restricted to specific customers. To prevent pricing discrepancies, the system requires the cart to be empty before switching customer accounts. The cashier can quickly clear or park the cart, select the new customer, and re-add the products.
What happens if the Happy Hour period ends while a customer is at the register?
The POS countdown timer updates every second. If the timer expires before an item is added to the cart, standard pricing will apply. Items already in the cart retain their calculated rate until the cart is modified or re-synchronized.
Are taxes calculated before or after the Happy Hour discount?
Taxes are automatically calculated proportionally on the discounted unit price of each product. This ensures sales tax calculations comply with legal retail accounting requirements.
Where can cashiers see the Happy Hour countdown clock?
The countdown widget appears permanently in the top-right header of the POS application on both the Home and Category product screens throughout the entire active promotion.
Troubleshooting & Verification
| Symptom | Verified Cause | Resolution |
|---|---|---|
| Countdown timer does not appear in POS header | Current time is outside the scheduled Start/End dates or times; or rule status is Disabled. | Check WordPress timezone settings in Settings → General, verify the rule schedule in Point of Sale → Happy Hours, and confirm status is Enabled. |
| Product discount is not calculating in cart | The product is not assigned to the active rule; or the campaign is restricted to specific customers. | Verify the product is included in the rule settings, or ensure the assigned customer matches the selected customer list. |
| Admin warning notice appears on dashboard | The core WooCommerce Point of Sale System is deactivated or missing. | Ensure the Webkul WooCommerce Point of Sale plugin is installed and activated. |
| Updated labels not showing in POS | Browser cached previous configuration data. | Refresh the POS browser tab or tap the Reset button in the POS sidebar to fetch fresh settings. |
