The Import EAN UPC Barcodes plugin provides a comprehensive suite of features to ensure your products are accurately identified and integrated with modern retail systems.

Complete Feature List

  • Generate Free/Internal-Use Codes: Create EAN-13 or UPC-A codes instantly. Every generated code features a correct modulo-10 check digit, a configurable numeric prefix (defaults to the GS1 internal-use range 20), and is guaranteed unique against both your imported pool and any already-assigned codes.
  • Import Real Purchased Codes: Upload .csv, .txt, or .xlsx files seamlessly. Supports multi-file continuation where assignment continues from the new batch automatically when the old one runs out.
  • Two Import Modes:
    • Sequential Pool: Upload files containing only barcodes. The plugin distributes them in file order to any products needing a code.
    • Mapped to Products: Upload a file with a barcode column and a product_id (or sku) column. The plugin maps the barcode precisely to that product and skips missing or unknown items.
  • Background Processing: File uploads, imports, and bulk assignment run through background queues. If you refresh or leave the page, the job continues safely, and the progress bar resumes automatically upon your return.
  • Bulk Assign to Existing Products: Assign codes to your entire catalog at once, including simple products and variations (variable parents are automatically skipped). Choose between generating codes or importing them from the pool during the bulk run.
  • New Product Auto-Assignment: Apply a set-and-forget rule to assign codes as products are created (whether via WP Admin, REST API, or CSV imports). Choose to:
    • Generate a free code
    • Assign the next imported code
    • Do nothing
  • Destination Field Flexibility: Write codes exactly where you need them. Options include:
    • WooCommerce native GTIN field (default option, fully integrated with WooCommerce validations)
    • WooCommerce SKU
    • EAN for WooCommerce (_alg_ean)
    • Product GTIN (_wpm_gtin_code)
    • Germanized GTIN/MPN (_ts_gtin / _ts_mpn)
    • wePOS / PayPal Zettle POS
    • ATUM Inventory
    • Any Custom Meta Key
  • Never-Overwrite Safety: A built-in toggle prevents the plugin from overwriting products that already have a code in the target destination field.
